THE TROVE". I had the image that cloyed at my mind of a Mermaid surrounded by Gold, alone in the moonlight underwater. She cares not for the money but values the solitude, the moon beams upon her, and the sound of water and tides shrouding her in loving loneliness as she remembers the lovers who came seeking the coin but fell for her. What does she remember? The story came swiftly and the painting began to unfold. She is without doubt one of my favorite Mermaids ever made and I look upon her dark eyes with a full heart. I am amused that she pays no attention to the strewn gold all about… after all- how can one be so impressed with the glitter of gold and currency when you have the scales that she does!

This was a new experience for me- she was not painted on paper as is my usual practice- she was painted on a wood panel of fiber board- which is something I have been waiting to do for some time. She was made from gouache paint which is still a great love for me.
