This passionate original is from my triumphant 2021 run of MerMay. She was a story that scratched her mark upon me deep into that month and made sure that come June or highwater_ would set paint to hot-pressed paper and I would reveal her story wrapped up in a red ribbon. Well she is one of my best prints but now the Original- that haunting original that could be a black and white photo shoot- a stunner that makes any guest stop and admire, that ghostly gleam of sunlight on bodies and wet hair, that painting- this painting that radiates the heat of two bodies together in monochrome with the slightest golden tint to it- these two contented lovers find solace in one another are ready for their new home…

I was listening to the Ocean, sitting on the beach one day... taking in the sounds of the waves upon the eternal shores. I thought about these sounds as old as the world and had to agree that the waves do have the same rythemic ways of our breaths. It occured to me that perhaps a Mermaid might breathe in sync with the breath of the sea. And were a lover to hold her close, this lover might feel that breath to their own breathing. I also thought that the Mermaid might -in all her wisdom of passion- leave him some ribbons on his delicate strong back so as he doesn’t follow her into the sea when its time for her to go. O but this moment here-- as they take in the sunset- just the best moment ever for them.... Such a moment makes for a bequiling piece on any wall.
