I was inspired to visit one of my favorite stories of hidden beauty. I had begun drawing this as a light-hearted sketch and never would have expected her to lead me by the paw and ‘dipping’ fountain pen to such meticulous hatching and complex lighting and character composition but she clearly had a life of her own. I thought of how the Heroine conducts herself when the love of her life not only has very um…long finger nails but- how does he go about clipping them with his huge clutchers? The tale told to me became a sweet, beguiling, and seductive one about lovers working together.
